Target Market Determinations

From 5 October 2021, we need to comply with a new law under the Treasury Laws Amendment (Design and Distribution Obligations and Product Intervention Powers) Act 2019.

This has been introduced to ensure the right products are recommended to the right members, by focussing on them in the design and distribution of our financial products.

One of the requirements of the new law is to create a Target Market Determination (TMD) for each financial product we offer.

What is a Target Market Determination (TMD)?

A TMD is a document that describes:

• The consumer for which the product has been designed
• The conditions around the product’s distribution
• The events or circumstances where we may need to review the TMD
• When the TMD will be reviewed
• Recording keeping and reporting obligations of distributors
